Dr. Vinturella of the nobulletin blog writes of the Hospitality Index, which represents the Index that would measure the services and other related opportunities in various sectors that New Orleans would attract after Katrina.

As per Vinturella:

The impact of Katrina can be better understood ‘on the ground.’ Imagine, after six months, that related stories totally dominate the news. Mail delivery is not yet daily, and only first-class mail is being delivered in the City. ‘How did you do in the storm?’ is still the City’s most frequently asked question

Denise Howell of Between Lawyers blog writes on the level of risk involved in blogging in comparison to podcast, photo, video clip and other online communication tools. As per Denise:

Picture a world in which it was a newsworthy event every time someone was fired due to something said in an email or a hallway. Or every time company secrets were clandestinely or inadvertently shared over the phone or over drinks. You’d never hear about the dangers and pitfalls of blogging, because it would constitute such a small part of the overall “problem.”

PR person Harold Burson launches a new blog called as Burson-Marsteller. This blog in the words of Burson:

Put another way, I frequently regard an introduction to a person of interest as an occasion that can be used to set up a follow-up meeting or assure that my telephone call is returned. I figure I have thirty to sixty seconds in which to make a positive impression. I must use that time to say something that causes the listener to think I know what I am talking about - recognizing, of course, that I must “talk the talk” the listener wants to hear rather than what I might want to say. On such occasions I have always felt my father’s admonition “being in the know” better prepared me to accomplish my objective - establishing connections and relationships that might one day be useful.

Global Voices is a non-profit blog launched and sponsored by the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at the Harvard Law School. This blog is a conglomeration of different forms of the media industry to get the unheard voice of the community audible to the readers.

The main aim is explained in the following words:

At a time when the international English-language media ignores many things that are important to large numbers of the world’s citizens, Global Voices aims to redress some of the inequities in media attention by leveraging the power of citizens’ media. We’re using a wide variety of technologies - weblogs, wikis, podcasts, tags, aggregators and online chats - to call attention to conversations and points of view that we hope will help shed new light on the nature of our inter-connected world.
